Nature of Assignments:
Teaching: Teaching Veterinary Microbiology to Postgraduate and Undergraduate veterinary students for the last 25 years covering general and systematic studies of microbes, their immunological and biotechnological studies, experimental animal studies and prevention, treatment, control and eradication of infectious diseases/agents.
Research: On various aspects of Veterinary Microbiology with a major stress on livestock & poultry disease investigation. This covers:
• Veterinary Microbiology: Growth, maintenance and identification of bacterial, viral, and fungal cultures using well-known biochemical and molecular protocols for disease diagnosis and research.
• Molecular Biology/ Genetic engineering and Immunogenetics: Different versions of PCRs like simple PCR, multiplex, RT-PCR and real time-PCR. DNA cloning, sub cloning and ligation strategies, Gel Electrophoresis, Molecular probing using radio and non-radio labeled probe and fluorescence in situ hybridization, Southern hybridizations, RFLPs, and DNA sequence analysis.
• Cell Biology: tissue culture and maintenance of cell lines, immunohistochemistry, immunoflorescence microscopy.
• bioinformatics: NCBI genome annotation tools BLAST etc.
• Whole animal biology and clinical expertise: •knowledge and experience in working with small and large domesticated animals as well as laboratory animals.
Extension:
• Providing health coverage to animal species of university livestock farms.
• Attending stubborn ailing cases and infectious disease outbreaks among animals of the state and providing on the spot and laboratory diagnosis.
• Rendering consultative services to the livestock farmers through TV/ Radio talks.
• Delivering expert lectures to the Vets, Para-Vets, Ex Service men, progressive farmers and Unemployed youth on different aspects of infectious diseases from time to time in different trainings /workshops organized by CSK H.P.K.V. Directorate of Extension Education / COVAS and actively participating in organizing the Kisan Melas, Vet fairs and Veterinary clinical camps.

- ISVIB mid Career Scientist award by Indian Society of Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology (ISVIB- 2007). The award consisted of a Gold Medal and a Certificate.
- Co-authored the research paper that won Award for Best Article published on pack animals- Gang Mana Sharwna Award (ISVP-2001).
- Postdoctoral Research Fellowship by DST, GOI under the BOYSCAST programme for post doc study at USDA, ARS, at National Animal Disease Center, AMES, IOWA, USA – 1998-1999.
