I) Aqueous extracts of
Azadirachta. indica, Agave americana, Eucalyptus. citriodora
and Zanthoxylem. alatum provided 85.8-92.0% reduction in
severity of white rust disease of mustard.
2) Aqueous extracts of
A. americana, Z. alatum, Aegle marmelos, Sapindus mukorossi and
Terminalia belerica gave 64.9-79.9% control of Alternaria
blight of mustard in pots through induced resistance.
3) Investigation of
underlying mechanism of induction of resistance through botanical
extracts revealed the increase in the levels of enzymes
phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), peroxidase (PO) and
content of phenolic compounds.
