Zonal Best KVK Award Zone- I 2014.
The activities of KVK have significantly contributed in diversification of agriculture through off season vegetable cultivation and temperate fruit production. Diversification, intensification and shift to cash crops have further increased job opportunities in farm sector of the district. Introduction of pomegranate as a substitute of apple has provided a new cash crop in an area where chilling requirement of apple is not fulfilled due to impact of climate change. Introduction of improved technologies in management of dairy animals has provided constant source of income to the small and marginal farmers of the district. Group mobilization towards secondary agriculture has created new job opportunities for farm women to earn additional income and contribution of agriculture income to the gross income has increased manifolds. The KVK Kullu was awarded Zonal Best KVK Zone- I 2014.
