Genesis
The objective of Home Science Education is personal & professional development of an individual for better quality of life. To fulfill the need the department of Home Science came into existence in Feb. 1980. It was upgraded to College of Home Science in 1991 with five established areas, one of which is Home Management /Family Resource Management
In the context of the changes happening in the microenvironment and the socio cultural and economic systems, the division of Family Resource Management was upgraded to independent Department of Family Resource Management in the year 1991 in the College of Home Science.
Family Resource Management and Consumer Science deals with the everyday art and science of living with the aim of improving the quality of life of individual, families and community at large. The students are prepared to effectively assist rural-urban households in resource generation and allocation issues. It helps the students to undertake financial management and to make wise analytical consumer choices. The students are also trained for entrepreneurship skill development in terms of self-employment and micro-enterprise management
The word hospitality comes from the Latin word hospes, which means host or guest. Hospitality means meeting the needs of guests with kindness and goodwill while they are away from their homes. Hospitality industry is diverse enough, thus, offers exciting, challenging and inspiring career with opportunities for a graduate for whom sky is the limit.
In order to meet the growing demand of hospitality industry, CSK HP Krishi Vishvavidyalaya has started three years B.Sc. Degree Programme in Hospitality and Hotel administration in this department. The course was started in the year 2011 with overwhelming response for 25 seats in the Department of Family Resource Management, College of Home Science which is one of the constituted colleges of this university. As the campus is situated in foothills of Dhauladhar Mountain Range which offers conducive climate for the students from any part of country.
