KRISHI DOOT

In an effort to take agricultural technology to the farmers, Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University Palampur has taken new initiatives. With an initiative of Dr. H.K. Chaudhary Hon`ble Vice Chancellor of CSKHPKV, Palampur, progressive farmers with excellence in agricultural activities have been identified and designated as “Krishi Doot” meaning agricultural ambassadors. These Krishi Doot are acting as a link between university and farming community for the dissemination of latest technological interventions. It is basically an effort towards enhancing the reach of agricultural techniques and technology of the University to the farmers at large. As the word “doot” suggests, these are the messengers of the university to take agricultural technologies to the grassroots level. Till now 58 “Krishi Doots” have been selected in this University from different districts across the state. These “Krishi Doots” have also been honored and facilitated at district, state and national level for their work and excellence in different sector of Agriculture. These “Krishi Doots” also sharing information with other farmers about agricultural technologies and helping in the expansion of extension activities of the university on large scale. The activities and the achievements of Krishi Doots have also been displayed in the agricultural museum of the university in a designated gallery which is a source of inspiration to all other farmers who visit the university agricultural museum.
