Importance of mycorrhizal inoculum, types of mycorrhizae and associated plants, Mass inoculum
               production of VAM, field applications of Ectomycorrhizae and VAM.

               PRACTICAL (30 Hours)


                                         1.  To  study  the  principle  and  applications  of  important  instruments
                                            used in the microbiology laboratory.
                                         2.  Preparation  of  culture  media  and  sterilization  for  bacterial
                                            cultivation.
                   2.  Sterilization of glassware using Hot Air Oven and assessment for sterility.
                   3.  Isolation of pure cultures of bacteria by streaking method.
                   4.  Preservation of bacterial cultures by various techniques.
                   5.  Estimation of CFU count by spread plate method/pour plate method.
                   6.  Isolation of Rhizobium from leguminous plants.
                   7.  Isolation of free living nitrogen fixing bacteria (Azotobacter) from soil.
                   8.  Isolation of P-solubilizers from rhizospheric soil.
                   9.  Staining of mycorrhizal fungi colonized roots.
                   10. Preparation  of  liquid  and  carrier  based  formulations  of  biofertilizers  and  their  field
                       application.
