The opening of launch workshop of ICAR sponsored network project on “Adaptation and facilitation of livestock to impending climate changes through shelter management” was held on 12.06.2009 at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, CSK HPKV, Palampur jointly organized by Department of Veterinary Physiology and Department of LPM.
The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. A. K. Srivastava, Director and Vice-Chancellor of NDRI, Karnal and Dr. Tej Partap, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of CSK HPKV, Palampur presided over the function. 22 delegates from 5 ICAR institutes and 4 agriculture universities from different parts of country participated in this workshop.
Dr. Tej Partap, Honorable Vice-Chancellor in his presidential remarks asked to identify the tools required to study the effect of climate change on animals and also changing habitat of animals of high altitude due to climate change.
Dr. S.C. Sharma, Director of Research highlighted the threat involved to different livestock species due to impending climate change and congratulated the scientists for bringing this project. Dr. A C Varshney, Dean, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, CSK HPKV, Palampur welcomed the delegates and gave over view of
the college activities. Dr. R Kumar, Prof & Head cum Principal Investigator of this project conducted the proceedings. Dr. K. B. Sharma, Dr. Y. P. Thakur and Dr. P. K. Dogra are Co PI’s in this project from College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, CSK HPKV, Palampur. This project has a lead center at NDRI, Karnal with Dr. R C Upadhaya as lead center Principal Investigator.
