FIELD DAY ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGY ON 23.05.2009

Department of Veterinary Physiology organized a field day at Village Bodhal, block Bhawarna on 23.05.2009. During the programme, farmer’s interacted with the Director of Research, CSK HPKV, Palampur and Scientists of the Department working under the AICRP on “Improvement of feed resources and nutrient utilization for raising animal production”. On this occasion Dr. S C Sharma, Director of Research, CSK HPKV, Palampur, directly interacted with the farmers of village Bodhal, to know the impact of feeding trial on the low yielding cows.
Dr. R. Kumar Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Physiology, Dr. K.B. Sharma, PI of the project, Dr. Daisy Rani Assistant Professor Animal Nutrition, Dr. M. S. Verma and Dr. S. S. Chauhan Assistant Professor Veterinary Physiology also interacted with the farmers. At the very out set Dr. R. Kumar highlighted the salient features of the project and briefed about the laboratory to field programme undertaken in this project in which farmers are being taught how to use total mixed ration (TMR). Dr. S C Sharma, Director of Research,
advised the farmers to adopt the latest technologies and feeding practices being advised by the scientists. He also interacted with the farmers to have a first hand knowledge, on the impact of ongoing feeding trial. He was very happy to know from the farmers that on an average milk yield has increased by 1 to 1.5 liter/day per animal with in one month of the ongoing trial. He also advised them to follow the similar feeding schedule even after the project is over and also emphasized to disseminate this information to others as well. In addition to this Dr. S C Sharma also informed the farmers that University has published a calendar of various training Programmes, being conducted by the university and they should take maximum advantage of the this.
