To develop the technology for quality seed production of cultivable species suitable for hilly region.

To undertake the extensive fishery survey of all the water resources of the state so as to have an authentic data base of fish genetic resources of the region for sustainable exploitation.

To undertake the intensive studies on screening of fisheries amenable to culture in the tribal area.

To impart training to undergraduate and postgraduate students/manpower in the field of Fish and Fisheries.

To disseminate the research finding to the beneficiaries/farmers in the State
