Bush type variety bears long and straight pods having attractive green colour, average yield 125 q/ha and resistant to rust disease.

Indeterminate in growth, suitable for protected cultivation, high yielding and bacterial wilt resistant.

Pods are very long, attractive, green, fleshy, tender, juicy and stringless, average yield 110 q/ha.

Fruits are attractive, with higher fruit yield of 215-230 q/ha, resistant to yellow vein mosaic virus.

 

Zimikand (Palam Zimikand)

The corms of Palam Zimikand are white fleshed; pseudo stem is solid, round and densely spotted. Ready to harvest in 170-180 days. Yield from 100 g cormlets raised crop is 200-250 q/ha and from 100-500 g corm is 450-550 q/ha.

1.    Garden pea variety Him Palam Matar-1(DPP-SP-22):Line has been developed by hybridization of ‘Palam Sumool × Palam Priya’ followed by pedigree method of selection. Medium growth habit, flower a week earlier than Pb-89 and about two weeks over Azad P-1; synchronized flowering; ready for first harvest in about 70 days in high hills and 100-125 days in low to mid hills; pods are long (10-12 cm), lush green, and attractive; 8-12 seeds/pod (10 seeds) and fresh seeds are comparatively bold; high pod yield potential (115-160 q/ha) about 10% higher over Pb-89 and 25% over Azad P-1; moderately resistant reaction to powdery mildew disease; suitable for main season cultivation in low, mid and high hills of Himachal Pradesh.

2.    Garden pea variety Him Palam Matar-2 (Line-1-2): First garden pea variety harbouring er2 geneexhibiting complete resistance to powdery mildew disease; mid maturity; ready for first harvest in about 75 days in high hills and 110-134 days in low to mid hills.pods are medium long (9-10 cm), green in colour bearing 8-10 seeds/pod. High yield potential (150-160 q/ha).

3.    Edible pod pea variety Him Palam Meethi Phali-1(DPEPP-15-1):Line has been developed by hybridization of ‘‘Palam Priya × DPEPP-1’ followed by pedigree method of selection. It is the first proposal as recommendation for cultivation in Himachal Pradesh. Medium growth habit (50-60 cm), plant similar as normal garden pea; medium maturity (mid season); Ready for first harvest in about 60-70 days during off-season in high hills and 110-125 days as main season crop in low and mid hills after sowing; Pods are attractive, lush green, medium long (8-10 cm), flat and free from parchment layer; High pod yield potential (110-130 q/ha) about 30-40% higher over Arka Apoorva and Meethi Phali1; Moderately resistant reaction to powdery mildew disease; Suitable for main/off-season cultivation in low, mid and high hills of Himachal Pradesh.

4.    Edible pod pea variety Him Palam Meethi Phali-2(DPEPP-10-1): Line has been developed by hybridization of ‘‘Pb-89 × DPEPP-2’ followed by pedigree method of selection. Medium tall (60-80 cm), afilla plant (reduces lodging losses); Medium maturity (mid season); Ready for first harvest in about 70-75 days during off-season in high hills and 110-125 days as main season crop in low and mid hills after sowing. Pods are attractive, lush green, medium long (8-10 cm), flat and free from parchment layer. High pod yield potential (80-100 q/ha) about 10-20% higher over Arka Apoorva and 30-40 % over Meethi Phali. Moderately resistant reaction to powdery mildew disease. Suitable for main/off-season cultivation in low, mid and high hills of Himachal Pradesh.

5.    Chilli variety Him Palam Mirch-1 (DPCh-27): Line has been developed by hybridization of ‘Pusa Jwala ×  Surajmukhi’ followed by pedigree method of selection. Fruits are medium long (6-7 cm), slender (fruit width 0.95 cm), bright green, attractive and pungent. Cluster bearing fruit habit as that of ‘Surajmukhi’ but comparatively longer in size. Plants erect in growth and medium tall (50-55 cm). Flowers in 45-50 days after transplanting and ready for first harvest in 60 days, a week earlier than ‘Surajmukhi’. High fruit yield potential (100-125 q/ha) about 20% higher over ‘Surajmukhi’. Tolerant to bacterial wilt and also showed low incidence of fruit rot (<10%) comparable with ‘Surajmukhi’. Suitable for cultivation in low and mid hills of Himachal Pradesh. It is suitable for cultivation during rainy season due to its erect plant and fruit bearing characteristics that is beneficial to handle fruit rot/anthracnose disease.

6.    Chilli variety Him Palam Mirch-2(DPCh-38): Line has been developed by hybridization of ‘LCA-436 × Pant C-1’ followed by pedigree method of selection. Fruits are long (8-9 cm), broad (fruit width 1.15 cm), bright green, attractive and pungent. Single erect bearing fruit habit. Plants erect in growth and medium tall (55-70 cm). Flowers in 45-50 days after transplanting and ready for first harvest in 60 days, a week earlier than ‘Surajmukhi’. Harvest duration is 40-60 days depending upon the prevailing climatic conditions. High fruit yield potential (100-160 q/ha) with average fruit yield of 140 q/ha about 40% higher over ‘Surajmukhi’. It is tolerant to bacterial wilt and also showed low incidence of fruit rot (<10%) comparable with recommended variety ‘Surajmukhi’. It is suitable for cultivation in low and mid hills of Himachal Pradesh. It is suitable for cultivation during rainy season due to its erect plant and fruit bearing characteristics that is beneficial to handle fruit rot/anthracnose disease.

7.    Parthenocarpic Cucumber Variety ‘Him Palam Kheera-1’
(DDPCG1): This is the first parthenocarpic cucumber variety recommended for cultivation in Himachal Pradesh under protected environment. Fruits are dark green in colour, cylindrical in shape and straight, attractive and crispy. Fruits mature for first harvest in 42-45 days after planting. Moderately resistant (MR) to Downey mildew and Powdery Mildew diseases. Average fruit yield 750-900 q/ha under protected conditions. Recommended for cultivation in all agro-climatic zones of  Himachal Pradesh under protected conditions.

8.    Parthenocarpic Cucumber Variety ‘Him Palam Kheera-2’
(DDPCW1): Fruits are light green in colour, cylindrical in shape and straight, tender attractive and crispy. Fruits mature for first harvest in 42-45 days after planting. Moderately Resistant (MR) to Downey mildew and  Powdery Mildew diseases. Average fruit yield 750-900 q/ha under protected conditions. Recommended for cultivation in all agro-climatic zones of  Himachal Pradesh under protected conditions

9.    Cabbage hybrid-DPPCbH-1 (Him Palam Cabbage Hybrid-1): CMS based low chill requiring cabbage hybrid developed by Crossing ICMS (Cytoplasmic Male Sterile line derived from KGAT-1) as female parent with Glory-1 as Male parent. Average head yield 330-400 q/ha under open field conditions. The heads are flattish round with average head weight 750-1200g. It is recommended for cultivation in all agro-climatic zones of Himachal Pradesh.

 

 

10.               Tomato hybrid-DPTH-1 (Him Palam Tomato Hybrid-2): Highly resistant to bacterial wilt disease, ready for first harvest in 70-75 days after transplanting, average fruit weight 60-65g with total soluble solids 5oBrix, bears 15-20 fruits/plant, average fruit yield 300-350 q/ha.

11.    Anthocynin rich radish variety DPR-1 (Him Palam Mooli No. 1): Roots are purple, very long (20-25 cm) with top length 40 cm, bear around 12-15 leaves, average root weight 250-300g, average marketable yield 400-450 q/ha.

12.    Onion Variety Him Palam Shweta (DPWO-1): It is a selection from an introduction from UK (EC 218534). Attractive white colour bulbs, round shape and narrow neck bulbs , more shelf life; low post harvest losses, higher total soluble solids [TSS], Average bulb yield is 270.5 q/ha.

13.    Cherry Tomato Variety ‘Him Palam Cherry Yellow’ (DDCTY1): This is the first recommendation of yellow colour cherry tomato for protected cultivation. Beta-carotene rich, fruits are yellow in colour, oval shaped, sweet and attractive, cluster bearing habit (19-20 fruits/cluster). Indeterminate growth habit with average yield of 500-600 q/ha.
