College of Agriculture at Palampur is a residential college and the students are required to reside in the Hostels unless otherwise permitted. There is residential facility with separate hostels for boy and girl students, and UG & PG students. The crux of resident instructions in the College is the course credit system of education on Land-Grant University pattern at both, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The significant feature of this system has been the continuous internal assessment of students. Fifty per cent component of External Examination System has been added to the UG programme from the academic session 2002-03. The course curricula are framed by the competent teaching faculty keeping in view the needs of the Pradesh and are inline with the National Agricultural Education System of ICAR. It imparts the much needed flexibility in the programme of study, initiatives and reforms for quality assurance in agricultural education.

The other distinctive feature of resident instructions at undergraduate level is ‘Earn While You Learn’ Scheme. Under this scheme the students earn money while undergoing practical training at the University farm. Further  all the final year students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme undergo ‘Rural Agricultural Work Experience’ programme for one semester. This programme has been initiated to develop entrepreneurial skills and  mind-set among the agricultural graduates besides, rural and industrial training/skills.
