The
Department of Agronomy was established in the year 1972 under
the then Agriculture Complex component of the Himachal Pradesh
University, Shimla to develop skilled and efficient human resource
in the field of A
gronomy for imparting education to students,
undertaking appropriate research on crop and natural resource management
on sustainable basis in the hills and mountains, extend knowledge and
skill to the hill farmers.
