Departmental Research:  Department have created a credible impact by doing research on following problems:

  1. Sero-prevalence of brucellosis in animals and occupationally exposed human beings in Himachal Pradesh.

  2. Studies on prevalence, characterization and antimicrobials effect on Salmonella isolates from egg, chicken and meat.

  3. Prevalence of Salmonella and Escherichia coli in ready to eat foods and beverages of animal origin in Himachal Pradesh.

  4. Prevalence of bovine tuberculosis in dairy animals and occupationally exposed human beings in Himachal Pradesh.

  5. Prevalence of Staphylococcus and Listeria spp. in ready to eat foods of animal origin in Himachal Pradesh.

  6. Studies of prevalence, characterization and effect of antimicrobial agents on Escherichia coli isolates from chicken.

  7. Quality evaluation of drinking water from various sources in district Kangra.

  8. Adulteration testing of milk and milk products.

  9. Evaluation of raw vegetables/salads, soils, water samples for presence of parasitic infestation of animal and human origin.

  10. Microbial contamination of livestock feed and its public health significance.

  11. Evaluation of the antibacterial and bactericidal effect of certain herbal products.

  12. Bacteriological examination of organic manure (biosol) used for organic agricultural practices and air quality  in North-Western Himalayas.

  1. Studies on prevalence and management of rabies in animals and livestock farmers in different agro climatic zones of H.P. (Under RKVY)

  1. Instructional cum Entrepreneurial Training Centre on Safety, Quality Assurance and Quality Control of Food of Animal Origin under ‘Modern Experiential Learning Unit’ (ICAR)
  2. Research and development on safety, quality assurance and quality control of foods of animals origin in H.P. (under RKVY)
  3. Assessment of microbiological quality of animal origin foods from major tourist places of Himachal Pradesh. (FSSAI, Govt. of India)
  4. Epidemiological studies on Rickettsial zoonoses prevalent in Himachal Pradesh (ICMR, New Delhi)
  5. Economic upliftment of livestock farmers by prevention and control of infectious, non – infectious & zoonotic diseases of animals prevalent in Himachal Pradesh (under RKVY).
  6. Development of Salmonella Detection Kit from food and clinical specimens (under RKVY)
  7. Impact of climatic variability on economically important animal diseases (zoonotic/non – zoonotic) and its management in district Mandi of Himachal Pradesh (NRDMS Division, DST)
  8. Development of rapid and reliable diagnostic kit for detection of synthetic milk and milk adulterants. (under RKVY).
