EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

To uplift tea industry of Himachal Pradesh the CSKHP Krishi Vishvavidyalaya has undertaken extension activities with the following objectives:

• Identification of the Gaps in the adoption of the improved technologies in   different Factory Zones

• Formation of Tea Planters Advisory Committee (TPAC)

• Formation of Tea Technical Team (TTT) for their appraisal regarding the R & E activities.

• Strategies for sustainable production/ productivity

• Organization of Training Camps for planters

• Organization of Demonstrations in different factory Zones

• Organization of field days at different locations

• Exposure of the planters to the Kisan Mela at HPAU Palampur to apprise them about the new technologies developed

• Release of Video Film on the “Prospects of Tea Cultivation ion Himachal   Pradesh”

• Popularization of Kangra Tea

• Preparation/ distribution of literature containing information regarding different    package and practices pertaining to Tea Cultivation

• Organization of different Adaptive trials in the planter’s fields

• Extension planting in the non- traditional area suitable for tea cultivation

Achievements

The department has well established Tea processing unit with a capacity of 50,000 kg made tea per year.

The department has maintained the standards as per India’s National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) for the crop production, processing, packing and trading.  Presently 44 hectares of total area has been given the organic status. The inspection and certification has been done by SGS India Pvt. Ltd. Gurgaon
