 Department conducts training programs to famer groups approaching through different State Govt. organizations, ATMAs NGOs and farmers promoted by Village Panchayats. Apart from this, department trains the Master Trainers from State Deptt. of Agriculture and other related departments also imparts training to students.

1.      Area of imparting training

@ Principles and practices of organic agriculture and natural farming

@ Preparation and utilization of different types of organic composts, liquid manures and natural farming inputs from locally available biomass

@ Management of insect-pests and disease in organic/natural cropping systems

@ Protected nursery raising for organic cultivation of vegetables

@ Internal Control System/ Participating Guarantee System for organic certification

@ Graduate, post graduate and doctoral students from college of agriculture and other colleges of the university are provided research guidance by the scientists of the department.

2.      Achievements

@  Under the Niche Area of Excellence programme (2006-17) 7509 stakeholders (students, farmers, agriculture officers, faculty, NGOs etc.) were trained on various aspects of organic agriculture through one hundred & twenty four (124) on and off campus trainings. In addition, fifty six (56) field demonstrations on organic management of crops were conducted on the farmers field in district Kangra, Hamirpur and Bilaspur of H.P.

@  Two villages viz. Bhadrog in Bilaspur district and Balduhak in Hamirpur district have been adopted for taking the activities in a big way for conversion of farmers from inorganic to organic agriculture. As a result, the farmers of the adjoining villages have also started showing interest in organic farming.

@  Practical training course on organic farming is being offered by the department to the B.Sc Agriculture students under the ELP programme

@  Model Training Course on Organic farming to the 20 Scientists & Agriculture Officers from 8 states w.e.f. 12-19 Oct. 2015 and Oct. 2018

@ Audio CD on“Organic Farming”in Hindicovering all the aspects on organic agriculture for he stakeholders was prepared and releases in March 2016 was organized

@ E-literature CD -- Model Training Course on“Eco-friendly-Organic Agriculture”sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture, GOI in October 2015 was prepared

3.      Department participated in the following events

@ Organic Trade Fair & Food Festival at Shimla organized by State Deptt. of Agriculture every  year

@ BIOFACH INDIA with INDIA ORGANIC An International Trade Fair on Organic Products  organized by ICCOA from time to time

@ Kisan Melas as and when organized by DEE, CSKHPKV Palampur

@ Faculty delivered more than 11 Radio and 7 TV talks

@ The work done by the faculty on organic farming has also been recognized at the National and International levels on different platforms
