University Management Committee Decisions

Proceedings of 1st meeting (2009) of the University Management Committee held on 2nd  January, 2009 at 3.00 PM  in the Committee Room of the Administrative Block.

The following were present in the meeting which was chaired by the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor:

At the outset, the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor welcomed all  the members for attending the 1st  meeting (2009) of University Management Committee and informed about the decision taken by him.

 

The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that the organic tea of the University is being served in the office of the Hon`ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh at Shimla.  So far  as the marketing of organic tea is concerned, steps are being taken to sign MOU with   Khadi Board  and  negotiation will be done with Tourism Department.

 

The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor also informed that the ICAR has provided CDA grant of  Rs.11 crore to the State Agricultural Universities largerly for the up-gradation of University research farms.  This grant will be utilized by the University towards creating infrastructure, roads, irrigation facilities, drinking water, farms and equipment. 

 

The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that the office building of Dean, Postgraduate Studies has been renovated and steps to provide separate space for the Directorate of Research will be taken and the Directorate of Extension Education building will be renovated.  The Estate Cell will be shifted to some other building from the Administrative Block.

 

The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that since the University has decided to start MBA classes, he has called Dr.Sikka from GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar for expert opinion  and Dr.Sikka is likely to visit this University during  this month. 

 

Restructuring of Research & Extension activities:

 

Research Sub-Station, Leo:-    It was decided that the scientific staff of Research Sub-Station, Leo will be shifted to Research Station, Sangla and the activities of this station will be looked after from  Sangla.

 

Research Sub-Station, Akrot:-    The Research Sub-Station, Akrot will be placed under the charge of KVK, Una.  The research activities, if any, at this Sub-Station will also be looked after by them.

 

Research Sub-Station, Sundernagar:-  The Research Sub-Station, Sundernagar  will be

Placed under the charge of KVK, Sundernagar.  The responsibility for maintaining the activities of this Sub-Station will be of  Programme Coordinator, KVK, Sundernagar. The Director Extension Education told that the demarcation of land at Sunderngar has not been  done so far.  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor asked the DEE and the Estate Officer to get the demarcation done by involving the local administration of Sundernagar.

 

Appointment of Technical staff in the KVKs:-   The DEE requested to fill up the vacant posts of technical staff in all the KVKs.  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor directed the DEE and the Registrar to discuss the matter so that the vacant positions of KVKs are filled up at the earliest.

 

University Enterprises Programme:  After thorough discussion on the issue, it was decided to first identify all the areas which will come under University enterprises progrmme.

 

Points informed by the DEE:

 

The DEE told that a Kisan Goshti was organized by the Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Nora Dhar on 21.12.2008 which was presided over by the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor and attended by the  DEE and the staff of KVK, Dhaulakuan.  The lady farmers who had earlier attended training programme on Livestock at this University told about the increase of milk production.

 

A crop seminar on diversification in agriculture under live telecast programme was organized by the Directorate of Extension Education/KVK, Dhaulakuan at Kaffota  on 22.12.2008 where the Hon`ble IPH Minister was the Chief Guest.

 

The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor presided over the Annual Function of Degree College, Shilai on 23.12.2008 in the forenoon and also presided over a Mahilla Goshti  at Shilai in the afternoon  which was organized by the KVK, Dhaulakuan.

 

The DEE told that he attended the National Workshop of KVKs at GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar from 27 to 29.12.2008.

 

A live telecast at Doordarshan Shimla was attended by the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellors of CSK HPKV and UHF, Solan and the DEE on 31.12.2008.

 

The Scientific Advisory Committee meetings of KVK, Bara and Berthin have been fixed on 6th and 7th January, 2009 respectively. 

 

The State Level KVKs Workshop has been fixed at Palampur on 16-17.1.2009.

 

The Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of KVK, Sundernagar has been fixed on 19.1.2009.

 

Live telecast of Crop Seminar in Hamirpur district will be done on 31.1.2009.

 

Points informed by the Comptroller:

 

The Comptroller told that a PAC para is pending for quite some time with regard to outstanding inter-departmental payments. The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor asked the Comptroller to take immediate necessary action to settle the PAC para.

 

The Comptroller further told that the Animal Husbandry Department, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh had sanctioned a grant of Rs.17 lakhs for tribal area development and has requested to supply the information with regard to the activities undertaken by this University in the tribal area which information is required to be supplied by the DR/DEE.  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor asked both the Directors to give the information to the Comptroller at the earliest for onward transmission to the Director Animal Husbandry.

 

The Dean, Postgraduate Studies informed that he attended the 4th Management Development Programme on Leadership Development at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow which was sponsored by  Hyderabad from 22-26.12.2008.  The  Dean told that the training was very useful  and  requested the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor to call atleast 1 or 2 experts for giving training to other University staff.
