University Management Committee Decisions

Proceedings of 4th meeting (2008) of the University Management Committee held on 24th  March, 2008 at 2.30 PM in the Committee Room of the Administrative Block.

 

The following were present in the meeting which was chaired by the Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor:

The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor welcomed all the members present in the meeting and informed that University recently held the meetings of  Finance Committee, Board of Management and Senate.  The issue of income generation came for discussion in the Senate meeting.  Since the Chairman of the Income Generation Committee has retired, it was decided to reconstitute the Committee.  The reconstituted Committee will be led by Director of Research and the Director Extension Education, all Deans and the Deputy Comptroller will be its members. The Committee will submit the report by 25th April, 2008.

 

Kisan Mela and Organic Conference:  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that University is holding a State Level Kisan Mela  and Organic Conference in the last week of April, 2008. The tentative date for holding the Kisan Mela has been proposed on 29th - 30th April, 2008 which will be decided on the convenience of the Hon`ble Chief Minister.  It was decided to invite four key speakers to deliver lectures.  Display system in the stalls is being  changed and self explanatory display system will be done.  All the Deans and Directors will prepare their lists and a decision with regard to display in the stalls will be taken in the meeting which will be held soon.  The expenditure will be met out of DAP.

 

District Agriculture Plan:  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that the teams of University scientists have been sent for survey work to the field and the data will be compiled on the basis of survey report.

 

COBS Issue:  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor opened the issue of the undergraduate programme in the College of Basic Sciences. After discussion, it was decided that the undergraduate classes should be continued for another year.  It was also decided that the environment sciences be included in the Prospectus of College of Basic Sciences.

 

CFL lighting:   It was decided that the provision of CFL lighting in the new buildings be made compulsory and in the already constructed buildings such provision be made in the near future. The Estate Officer was asked to take necessary action in this regard.

 

Provision of generators in the Colleges:   The Dean, College of Agriculture requested to create the facility of generators in the Colleges.  The Estate Officer was asked to prepare the estimates in respect of all Colleges and submit the same at the earliest.

 

Dr. Asha Bansal Memorial Declamation Contest:  The Students Welfare Officer informed that in response to the notification No.8-21/1991/CSKHPKV(GA)/-13822-950 dated 27th February, 2008 issued by the Registrar, she contacted Dr.G.L.Bansal, the husband of late Dr.Asha Bansal about the dates on which the said contest could be held.  She told that Dr.G.L.Bansal was of the view that the nomenclature of the College be changed as Dr.Asha Bansal College of Home Science.  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that HPAUTA has also made the similar request.  All the members were of the view that the nomenclature should not be changed and the Students` Welfare Officer was requested to go ahead in organizing the declamation contest on any suitable date(s) after July, 2008.

 

Engagement of Medical Officer on contract basis:  The Hon`ble Vice-Chancellor informed that one post of Medical Officer is lying vacant in the University and sought the views of all members to explore the possibility in engaging the Medical Officer on contract basis during off hours.
