Student’s Achievements

Who Are we

After establishment of college in year 1986, the two departments then known as Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Surgery and Radiology were clubbed till 1991. In July 1991, reorganization of the department to an independent one occurred following adoption of Veterinary Council of India Regulations, the department was renamed as Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics.

Our Strengths

  • Organizing the infertility treatment camps throughout Himachal Pradesh for doorstep resolution of constraints faced by farmers rearing cattle and buffaloes.
  • Organizing trainings and workshops for Veterinary doctors regarding improvement in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Imparting technical knowledge to Veterinary pharmacists through training on artificial insemination for achieving optimum conception in field conditions.
  • Exploring the latest diagnostic tools such as ELISA reader, stationary and portable ultrasound machine, laparoscopy unit and auto-haemanalyzer, available in the department.
  • Regular intake of post-graduate students and carry out their research work on reproductive problems mainly related to field conditions.

Research

  • Research projects funded by different national agencies i.e. Department of Science and Technology, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, Ministry of Agriculture, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, National Innovation Foundation and Himachal Council of Science, Technology and Environment, have been carried out.
  • Research is focused on different aspects of infertility management in cattle and buffaloes with modern diagnostic techniques.
  • Semen cryopreservation and its propagation through artificial insemination in migratory flocks, thus, helping in conservation of the Gaddi and Chegu goat germplasm

Public Outreach

  • Organizing infertility treatment camps throughout the State.
