MEDIA COVERAGE AND MASS EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

The department brings  the ongoing activities of the different departments of the college in the forefront and projects the same in different scientific events/gatherings, farmer's get together, (Kisan mela, Vet-fair) and other social functions both inside and outside  the campus. The achievements of the college are also highlighted through mass media by preparing press notes, news item for publication in University Newsletter as well as in the local/regional and National Newspapers.

VIDEO DOCUMENTATION FOR PREPARING EXTENSION AND TEACHING MATERIAL

The department provides its exclusive facility of Video photography to other departments of the College/University for preparing teaching material, recording research observation, and during scientific meetings / conferences etc. (total recording time approximately 560 minutes). Apart from this, 25 minutes documentary video film of the rare Clinical and Surgical cases treated by the specialists of the college has been prepared which will be useful for teaching as well as field Veterinarians. Likewise, a full video documentary (40 minutes duration) of the yearly highlights of the college activities was prepared with limited resources of money, technical and instrumental support, available in the department.

VETERINARY EXTENSION MUSEUM HALL

A full visual based exhibition of the college activities has been prepared and installed in the newly set up Exhibition hall of the department. An illuminated display case depicting actual specimens and R & D products prepared by the college has been installed at the entry to the Exhibition hall for the benefit of the farmers, visitors and trainees under different training programs conducted by the University/other development agencies.

CAPSULE SLIDE SHOW SERIES

Four series of capsule slide shows including: a) animal genetic resources of the state b) highlights of the college activities c) on campus events d) R & D products developed by the college for the livestock wealth of the state. These are aimed to inform/educate the trainee Veterinary officers, Veterinary pharmacists, visiting dignitaries and different groups of livestock owners, in a very short time.

INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION WITH FARMER GROUPS

Interactive discussions are held with the groups visiting the veterinary extension exhibition hall from time to time. The groups include veterinary officers, Veterinary pharmacists, Trainee youths, Women livestock farmer groups, Orientation groups of Livestock farmers from different parts of the state, progressive farmer groups.

FARMER FRIENDLY EXTENSION LITERATURE ON LIVESTOCK HEALTH AND HUSBANDRY PRACTICES

Ever since the first set of three Hindi pamphlets was prepared in 1999, a strong feed back has been registered in the form of an ever increasing demand for farmer friendly literature in hindi. The department further expanded the existing list and produced 10 more pamphlets for the benefit of the livestock farmers. These readily available Simple Tips to Livestock Owners on different aspects of livestock health and productivity, have been quite popular with the farmers and different development agencies, as reflected by the demand and feed backs recieved from livestock farmers.The literature is in great demand by the agencies involved in technology transfer and even the field veterinarians. The department allows them to replicate this literature at their own level for further distribution; there by helping these agencies in furthering their cause of increasing awareness among livestock owners.
