Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria and Aruna Rana attended and participated in the Global Conference on Women in Agriculture at New Delhi from 12-15 March 2012 and put up one Exhibition on Bamboo artifacts under the name Bamboo hut in the Innovative Market place arena. The hut was visited by The Hon’ble President Smt. Pratibha Patil, Member of Parliament Shri. MS Swaminathan, Agriculture Minister Shri. Balram Jakhar, Dr. Ayyapan (DDG – ICAR) and farmers, students from Delhi and surrounding areas.

Conducted three days training for 20 Home Stay stakeholder from 28-30 Nov. 2011 under the scheme entitled “Empowerment of Mountain community through household eco tourism”
Training on Hospitality and Hotel Management conducted all faculty members at IHM Kufri from 21st March to 26th March 2011.
Training Workshop involving 35 perspective stakeholders from five selected villages was organized regarding home stay scheme under project entitled “Empowerment of Mountain Community through Household Eco tourism”. Networking with District Tourism Development Officer Dharamshala and one NGO has been done for effective implementation of home stay scheme.
Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria along with faculty of department of FRM was invited to conduct a training workshop on " Issues and Techniques on Household Enterprises Development through Home Stays in Sangla Valley" from 21st to 23rd May 2010. The families were also given training tips on running the scheme successfully and ways of becoming good hosts. Also Attended and Participated in the Household Tourism Festival at Sangla Valley A total of 54 families of Sangla Valley Sustainable Development Society were registered under the home stay scheme with the State tourism Department .
Two months in-plant training of Family Resource Management elective students conducted at Shakuntulum creative centre Dharamshala for skill up-gradation of students for the academic year 2009-10.
Faculty attended and participated in Workshop on "Gender mainstreaming through refinement of technologies" and imparted knowledge regarding new farm technologies from 18-19 march 2010. Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria and Ms. Aruna Rana conducted evaluation of Trainers Training Module of FRM Component to be applied at National Level.
The Department of FRM is nodal training centre for State Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation who has approached us to conduct basic training courses to upgrade the skills and enhance the capacity building of their staff members by conducting trainings, demonstrations, lectures etc. Three trainings on Housekeeping and Hospitality Management were organized by the Department in collaboration with State Department Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Twenty five in-service employees of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department (30-11-09 to 02-12-09) along with participants from various private hotels of Dharamshala (24-26 Feb 2010), Palampur (3-5 March 2010)and adjoining areas participated in these trainings.
Various aspects of hospitality management, personal hygiene, grooming, etiquettes and manners, different types of food and beverages layout and services. Housekeeping practices- room arrangements, care, maintenance and upkeep of equipment ,areas, crockery etc,, traditional Himachali cuisine preparation and presentation, food care practices, safety, storage, nutritional menu planning, purchase budgeting and practice sessions were organized. The training is a part of the scheme of Government of India for Capacity Building of service providers of Tourism.
Dr. Neena Vyas, Assoc. Prof., FRM took 17 students on educational tour to South India from 26 Dec. 2009 to 10 Jan. 2010.
Department organized a five days training programme on ‘Knowledge and Skill up
gradation of women’ from 3rd to 7th Feb.2009 .Twenty trainees participated in the training
funded by BDO Panchrukhi under mission mode scheme.
Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria along with faculty, students and staff of College of Home Science, coordinated and celebrated Van Mahotsav as PI of National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) Project funded by State Council of Science Technology and Environment, Shimla HP on 8th Sep. 09 where students from different schools participated actively in the plantation drive. Lectures were also delivered on use of medicinal plants. Six varieties of medicinal and ornamental plants (arjuna, amla, harad, jamun, ashoka) were also distributed along with refreshments to 100-150 school and college students from Darang village and adjoining areas.
Celebrated Van Mahotsav on 8th July 2008 and delivered a lecture on use of medicinal plants. Six varieties of medicinal plants (Kapur Tulsi, Brahmi, Lemon grass, Stevia, Aloe vera and Akarkara) were also distributed along with refreshments to 50 villagers from sidhpur village.
Delivered a lecture on Biodiversity was at Govt. Sr. Secondary Bhawarna, and Dehan on 22nd May 2008 and 29th May 2008.
Attended and Participated in the Household Tourism Festival at Sangla Valley from 9th to 10th May 2008. The families of Sangla Valley Sustainable Development Society were guided regarding the food presentation as well as its service in the food court. The families were also made aware regarding the importance of household tourism and ways of becoming good hosts.
Training on Basic Hospitality Management was organized from 28th Nov. to 3rd Dec.2007 for the Housekeeping staff of university guest houses of CSKHPKV Palampur.
Training was organized for members of Sangla valley sustainable society (22 members) from 21st September to 26th Sep. 2006 collaborated with SSDS, FIBLE and ICCOA.
Japanese school of Flower Arrangement: Organized one week course in Japanese school of Flower Arrangement from 11-9-2000 to 16-9-2000.
Training on Waste Recycling of paper: A state level two days training programme for teachers, NGO’s, ULB on waste recycling units under solid waste management programme from 21-12-2001 to 22-12-2001 in the Department. The training was sponsored by SCERT.
Workshop on Challenges, Opportunities and Constraints faced by women in Agriculture and Allied Industries: The Department organized a Regional Workshop on Challenges, Opportunities and Constraints faced by women in Agriculture and Allied Industries. The Workshop was supported by College of Home Science and CSK HPKV Palampur in collaboration with NCW, IFWA, ICAR and State Government of Himachal Pradesh on 27-28 Feb. 2002 in the communication center of DEE under the presidentship of Dr. Tej Partap, Vice Chancellor, C.S.K. H.P.K.V. Palampur. Dr. Saantha Reddy Hon’ble Member of N.C.W. was the chief guest. Dr. P. Geerwani from IFWA and Dr. Malvika Pathania Chairperson State Commission for women were the Guest of Honour.

Training on Hospitality and Housekeeping: The Department organized two days training for employees of HPKV Palampur working in guest houses at head quarter and research stations on HAREC Bijaura on 27-28 April 2004.
The State Council of Science Technology and Environment has identified the department as one of the Environment Resource Centres.
