Extension Services / Activities

Demonstrations: A number of field demonstrations on the management of different diseases like rhizome rot of ginger, late blight of potato, rice blast, colocasia blight, powdery mildew of curcurbits, loose smut of wheat, fruit rot of brinjal, and other important diseases of cereals, oilseeds, pulses, vegetables and mushrooms growing are conducted every year.

Training

A number of trainings as well as specialized lectures on plant pathology and mushroom growing are given in the training programmes organized by Directorate of Extension Education, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Research Stations, Indo-Dutch  and other govt./non-Govt. agencies to farmers, farm women,  youth, extension personnel,  agricultural  development officers and other beneficiaries.

Farm advisory service: the scientists of the department render useful service to the farming community through diagnoses of different disease samples brought by the farmers/ agricultural officers and suggest suitable control measures. They also conduct a large number of field visits individually or with Department of Agriculture as member of different diagnostic teams.

                                                                                             

Kisan Melas/Divas/Festivals: Different technologies involving plant disease management as well as mushroom growing are explained by the scientists in different kisan melas/divas/festivals etc. to the farmers and other people.

            The scientists of the department are actively involved in Agricultural Officers Workshops as well as in the organization of various trainings/courses and giving radio talks and also bringing popular articles and bulletins for the benefit of farming community of the state.
