Professional experience: Dr. D. K. Vatsa has served as Research Associate in College of Technology, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar from July 1988 to Sept. 1989.  He has worked as    Assistant Professor at Regional Research Station (SKUAST), R. S. Pura, Jammu from Sept 1989 to April 1990. Presently, he is serving as Agricultural Engineer and Incharge of “All India Coordinated Research Project on Farm Implements and Machinery (Power Tillers)” at Department of Agricultural Engineering, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur since April 1990. He was engaged in different projects for development of tools & equipments particularly for hill farming.

 

Brief Resume: Dr. D. K. Vatsa was born on 26th July 1964 in Jaunpur (U.P.) India. He has completed Bachelor of Technology (Agricultural Engineering) in 1984 from Allahabad Agricultural Institute, Allahabad University and Master of Technology  (Farm Power & Machinery) in 1988 from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. He did his Ph D in 2006 from Allahabad Agricultural Institute- Deemed University, Allahabad. He has been involved for the last 20 years in the research on design and development of farm tools and implements particularly for hill agriculture. Dr. Vatsa has completed three adhoc ICAR projects as Principal Investigator. He has been teaching undergraduate courses of farm power and machinery and post harvest technology. He has published and presented a number of papers in national and international journal/conferences /symposia

           

            He has served as Research Associate in College of Technology, G.B. He has been working in various capacities as Assistant Scientist, Agricultural Engineer and presently Senior Agricultural Engineer cum Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur since April 1990.

Awards/Achievements:

 

    1. Designed and Developed potato planter, Potato Digger, Multi-crop Planter and Zero till drill with power tiller.

    2. Recommended and released eleven tools and equipment after development and evaluation for Himachal Pradesh state farmers, respectively.

  • During the year 1999-2000- Manual seed drill, Manual multicrop planter, Wheel hoe (Tyne type), Wheel hoe (Sweep type), Tubular maize  sheller, Serrated sickle

  • During the year 2005-2006- Haloder, Palam Plough, Paddy transplanter, Vertical conveyor reaper, Power tiller (Shrachi make of 7 HP), Paddy thresher (manual and power operated), Maize sheller (Horizontal and vertical Type)

    3.  Published 43 research papers, 6 project reports and 21 extension articles in National and International journals.

    4. Organized 22nd National Convention of Agricultural Engineers & National Seminar on “Emerging Trends of Agricultural Engineering for Farm Mechanization of Hilly Regions” in Jan 2009
