The Department of Agricultural Economics has a three-fold mandate of

1.Teaching Agricultural Economics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

2.    Carrying out  research on various facets of farming in the state so as to supply the policy inputs to the agricultural planners, administrators and other related stakeholders and

3.    Advising the peasantry of the state with respect to optimum resource use, economic viability of different enterprises and other economic aspects.
