CSK H.P. Agriculture University and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam(SJVN) Foundation sign MOU to train five hundred farmers
CSK H.P. Agriculture University and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam(SJVN) Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) on 23 Septenber to train five hundred farmers of Himachal Pradesh. During MOU signing ceremony, Prof Ashok Kumar Sarial, Vice-Chancellor said that skill development programmes through trainings and demonstrations to the young aspiring farmers and entrepreneurs of Himahcal Pradesh will help them in various income generating professional activities. He said this will enable farmers to understand integrated agriculture and some of them may even adopt start up programmes in agri- entrepnurship.He appreciated and asked SJVN to continue their endeavors for the upliftment of farmers and livestock keepers under CSR and the university will extend all help. Dr Pawan Kumar Mehta, Director of Extension Education, said that in all twenty trainings will be conducted by the university experts where farmers will be trained and skill development would be under the areas of agriculture, floriculture, vegetable cultivation, mushroom production , bee-keeping, medicinal and aromatic plants, nursery production, dairy farming, poly-house cultivation, plant protection, organic agriculture, start up agri-prenureship and environment impact assessment. Mr.D.P.Kaushal, Additional General Manager and Secretary SJVN Foundation, told that MOU has been signed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of SJVN Ltd. Each trainee will be given a stipend of Rs 1400 and the programme will be completed in this very financial year. He thanked the University. In addition to Mr O.P.Gupta, Head of Project Dhaulasidh Hydroelectric Project and Mr Dheeraj Gupta, Executive, SJVN ; Drs Suresh Gautam, Desh Raj Chaudhry, Pawan Sharma, Anand Singh, A.K.Chaube, Dr Hirday Paul Singh, Jt.Director(Information & Public Relations) and Heads of Department from the College of Agriculture were present during signing of MOU.
