CSKHPAU and JICA sign service agreement to evaluate impact of Crop Diversification

CSK H.P. Agriculture University's Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension Education & Rural Sociology and Project Director, Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Promotion Project (HPCDP), Japan International Cooperation Agency -Overseas Development Assistance (JICA-ODA) signed a service agreement worth Rs. 8.57 lakh on 26 September.

Under the agreement, the university will evaluate the impact of this ambitious project running in five districts namely Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, and Una of the state. The agreement envisages investigating the impact of the project in enhancing the incomes of the farmers in these districts through agricultural diversification and creation of related infrastructure.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Prof Ashok Kumar Sarial, Vice-Chancellor. On behalf of the University, Director of Research Dr S. S. Kanwar and Head of the Department Dr S K Chauhan, who is also the coordinator of the project, signed the agreement and HPCDP was represented by Finance Officer Mr D S Chaudhary.

The study is to be accomplished within one month and for this a team of the scientists comprising Drs J S Guleria, Virender Kumar, M S Pathania and Harbans Lal has been constituted.
